INSERT SHAPE GUIDE

Match the insert
to the cut.

Start with the holder and required approach angle, then choose the strongest geometry that can reach the feature. Grade, chipbreaker and nose radius must still match the work material and finishing requirement.

NOSE RADIUS

Balance finish and load.

A larger nose radius can support heavier feed and improve finish in a rigid setup, while a smaller radius reduces cutting load and reaches finer detail. The programmed tool-nose compensation must match the actual insert radius.
